Government Fast-Tracks Seafarer’s Identification Document Rollout

The government has accelerated the processing of the Seafarer’s Identification Document (SID), with Kenyan seafarers expected to begin receiving the document from April. The Principal Secretary for the State Department for Shipping and Maritime Affairs Aden Millah noted that the SID will unlock new employment opportunities for Kenyan seafarers in the global maritime market.

The PS made the remarks during a consultative meeting with the Principal Secretary for the State Department for Immigration and Citizen Services Dr. Belio Kipsang, aimed at strengthening inter-agency collaboration to ensure the timely issuance of the document.
